Sterling Ranch leads the way to a sustainable energy future with the help of Xcel Energy’s Partners in Energy program

At buildout, nearly 33,000 Coloradans and dozens of businesses will call Sterling Ranch home. As responsible stewards of the environment, it’s our duty to help stem the effects of climate change by reducing our carbon footprint. For us, that includes a commitment to becoming a carbon-neutral energy community.

Our path towards achieving this goal is outlined in a progressive Energy Action Plan, developed through Xcel Energy’s Partners in Energy program. Xcel Energy — our electric and natural gas utility — provides the energy that powers millions of homes and businesses for communities in eight western and midwestern states, including Sterling Ranch.

Each community Xcel Energy serves has its own unique priorities and vision for its energy future. With a dynamically changing energy landscape, communities must lead the way in setting energy and sustainability goals. At Sterling Ranch, we’re grateful to leverage the industry expertise and innovation that Xcel Energy brings through this collaboration.

Xcel Energy launched Partners in Energy in the summer of 2014 as a collaborative resource with tailored services to complement each community’s vision. The program offerings include support to develop an Energy Action Plan or electric vehicle plan, tools to help implement the plan and deliver results, along with resources designed to help each community stay informed and achieve their outlined goals.

Our Energy Action Plan, finalized in 2020, outlines concrete goals and strategies to make our ambitious vision for a sustainable energy future a measurable reality.
