So many things make fall special in Colorado: cool sunny days, seasonal veggies, beautiful colors on trees, and much more! Kate Kunzie, Sterling Ranch’s own Lifestyle Director was inspired to create an autumn event that would bring people together as a community. “I was so lucky to be approached by residents themselves with ideas and suggestions on how we can all celebrate together,” she mentioned.
What transpired was nothing short of an extra special day — people got together, raised money for a good cause, ate delicious food, and it was fun for the whole family!
Our Residents Make a Difference
David Garner, one of our awesome residents, was so excited about the festival he came up with the idea of making a chili cookoff and tasting part of the celebration. Because… chili! Kate was quick to agree with him.
There’s nothing better than a warm bowl of chili on a perfectly cool, sunny autumn day. Many families came out to taste the delicious chili and we were extremely impressed with the chefs — the red, green, and vegetarian options were all to die for!
Introducing Rose 2 Hope Foundation
David also introduced us to Hillary Vargas, the Founder of Rose 2 Hope Foundation. This foundation helps today’s youth establish social, emotional, academic and spiritual balance in their lives. Ms. Vargas is especially excited about having a chapter in Colorado because of the natural beauty the state offers. “Getting away from the city and enjoying nature seems to really help kids with anxiety and stress,” she mentioned.

We were so inspired by the Rose 2 Hope mission, we couldn’t wait to get involved! All chili cookoff and silent auction proceeds from the event benefited this exceptional organization.
A Family Affair
Pumpkin carving, hay rides, and fall crafts were just some of the activities available for Sterling Ranch kiddos and their guests. To say they had fun would be an understatement. There were smiles and laughter all around!
Amanda Morgan, a Sterling Ranch resident, enjoyed a yummy fall beverage provided by Atlas Coffee while her daughter and son got seriously creative carving their giant pumpkins.
Local Support
The nearby Mercy Church graciously provided volunteers to help guests check-in, along with water and gatorade for all visitors! Also, the Stockton’s Plum Creek Stables offered free hay rides to everyone. We are grateful for so much local support — it’s what makes our community uniquely special.
Fun was had by all!
Neighbors gathered in the sun, ate some delicious food, and without a doubt… had lots of fun! According to Scott Colby, a local resident, it was “a perfect fall day.” We couldn’t agree more and are excited to see our community events grow with our thriving community!
Thanks to its superb location — not to mention years of careful planning — Sterling Ranch offers the perfect balance between natural beauty and city conveniences. You will come home to a wide variety of new home designs for every style of living. We can’t wait to see you at a future event!
