At Sterling Ranch, we embrace wellness as one of our core values and support our residents with a variety of health and wellness endeavors. In fact, neighborhood outdoor fitness classes and the new rec center opening in Providence Village are just some of the things our residents have to look forward to this summer.
We are thrilled for National Fitness Day coming up this weekend! With many gyms closed for at least a couple more weeks due to the coronavirus pandemic, we’re here to share some fun things you can do to “get your fitness on” in your home and community.
Here are some ideas to try while social distancing on National Fitness Day.
Five ways to exercise at home or outdoors without the gym
1. Run/walk outside
Put on a guided power walk or run audio, get outside and get your heart pumping! We love the Peloton app for guided fitness audio, but there are plenty of others from which to choose. Relish in the warm sun and fresh air while working out at the same time.
2. Take a live yoga class on Instagram
Miss your favorite yoga instructor? Check out his or her social media profile; many are teaching their classes online via the Instagram live option. These classes usually stay on a person’s profile for 24 hours, so you can play the class at your convenience and practice with your beloved instructor in the comfort of your home.

3. Host a family field game day
Get active with the whole clan by planning a field day in the park. Set up a cone course, play a game of Capture the Flag, or indulge in a whole slew of other competitive activities for everyone to enjoy.
4. Take on a Tik Tok dance challenge
Haven’t tried Tik Tok yet? This new “make your own video” app is full of fun dances you can learn yourself or with the whole family. Enjoy being creative and making a video . . . all while learning new dance moves and getting in a good workout.
5. Lace up your hiking boots
Colorado residents know there’s nothing more satisfying than getting your heart rate up by hiking a picturesque mountain ridge. There are plenty of trails from which to choose, and if you live in Sterling Ranch, they are right outside your front door, so get out there and savor those one-of-a-kind views.
