Delight in a wagon hay ride at Chatfield State Park
Enjoy a wagon hay ride at the Chatfield Stables — located on the south side of Chatfield State Park, right off of Titan Road — just a stone’s skip away from our very own Sterling Center. Reserve a ride on the company’s website, grab a hot apple cider, bundle up and enjoy some family fun while taking in the beautiful scenery.

Snowshoe at Roxborough State Park
Imagine plowing through fresh piles of snow, laughing with your family and friends and stopping often to admire yet another breathtaking view. This is snowshoeing at its finest. With the Colorado State Parks pass* provided to every home at Sterling Ranch, residents have access to wonderful snowshoe-designated trails at nearby Roxborough State Park. Remember to bring your camera and capture the fun!
Ice fish on Chatfield Lake
Chatfield Lake is the perfect place to kick back, relax and enjoy ice fishing. Here, you can catch walleye, rainbow trout and other local fish. Ice skate at Evergreen Lake
The rink at Evergreen Lake is one of the largest outdoor skating rinks in North America — and it’s located less than 45 minutes from Sterling Ranch. Enjoy the quaint town of Evergreen with mountain views all around. Then lace up your skates and let the fun begin! This year, tickets for specific time slots will be sold in advance, so be sure to make a reservation prior to arriving.

Soak in the Indian Hot Springs
Bring your bathing suit, your coziest robe, a hat, some slippers and a smile! The Indian Hot Springs in Idaho Springs are just 45 minutes from Sterling Ranch — and totally worth the trip. The healing waters and relaxation that follows are the reasons this activity tops “local favorites” lists year after year. Want more? Make a weekend of it and drive to the Hot Sulphur Springs near Granby or head south to explore the various hot springs surrounding the Salida area.
