The careful and deliberate planning that has gone into Sterling Ranch, and continue to define its progress and development, extend to education as well. Our vision for a healthy and vibrant community includes a wide selection of quality schools for all ages. That’s why Sterling Ranch sets aside a stipend with each lot sold and dedicates it towards future schools that will be constructed within the community.
And while planning ahead is always a good thing, especially for something as important as education, there’s also good news for current residents: neighborhood schools already exist as part of the highly acclaimed Douglas County School District, and are just a short drive away.
The neighborhood schools in the Douglas County School District include:
- Roxborough Primary (Grades P-2)
- Coyote Creek Elementary School (Pre-K–6)
- Roxborough Intermediate (Grades 3-6)
- Ranch View Middle School (Grades 7-8)
- ThunderRidge High School (Grades 9-12)
Roxborough Primary & Intermediate
As one school with two buildings, Roxborough Primary and Intermediate is an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School. Among the many distinctions of the IB educational method is the emphasis placed on opportunities for students to learn about the world around them. IB students learn a second language and take part in community service, and the coursework is structured for students to learn the skills, knowledge, concepts, and attitudes to become critical and creative thinkers.
Coyote Creek Elementary School
Coyote Creek Elementary is known as a high achieving school and has been awarded the John Irwin School of Excellence award as well as the Governor’s Distinguished Improvement Award. The school curriculum focuses on integrating social and emotional learning with challenging foundational knowledge.
Ranch View Middle School
As the mascot of Ranch View Middle School, the wolf is a proud reminder of the school’s motto: “The strength of the wolf is the pack and strength of the pack is the wolf.” An International Baccalaureate school, Ranch View inspires its students to embrace an inquiry-based education, helping them learn how to think, not simply what to think. With electives ranging from drama to foreign languages and a wide variety of sports, clubs, and activities, students at Ranch View Middle School receive a challenging and well-rounded education.
ThunderRidge High School
With enrollment at just over 2,000 students, ThunderRidge continues the IB tradition established at Roxborough and Ranch View. Its vision is to be a community of responsible 21st century learners and leaders promoting understanding and mutual respect in our global society. Students at ThunderRidge enjoy a wide variety of stimulating courses alongside multiple extracurricular activities. The robust athletic program includes cheerleading, hockey, lacrosse, volleyball, basketball, baseball, and more. Nearly 90% of graduates go on to attend college, making ThunderRidge an excellent springboard for academic success.
