5 . . . 4 . . . 3 . . . 2 . . . 1 . . . happy New Year! It’s been another joyful year at Sterling Ranch, and as we ring in the new year and look ahead, it’s a perfect time to pause for a moment to review the many activities we’ve enjoyed and milestones we’ve achieved as a community.
Joyful times in the neighborhood: a monthly recap

January:
Starting the year off right, and with our visions on wellness, residents accepted the 100 Miles Challenge, logging time walking, running and hiking in the great outdoors (and in the state-of-the-art fitness center at the Overlook Clubhouse).

February:
Red and pink were plentiful in the year’s shortest month, and neighbors celebrated one another by sending Valentines via our weeks-long Spread the Love event. Wrapping up the fun was a safari party.

March:
It was competition time around the community in March, when residents enjoyed game night as the Denver Nuggets went head to head with the Oklahoma City Thunder, neighbor challenged neighbor in the Mario Kart / Smash Bros. tournament and kids were seeing green as they set out on a hunt for the ever-elusive leprechaun.

April:
Joy and smiles were abundant at the annual Eggstravaganza, where children filled their baskets with sweet, colorful treasures.

May:
Spring was upon us and wellness-oriented events were aplenty on our community event calendar. Top of the list? The opening of the outdoor pool at the Overlook Clubhouse!

June:
What didn’t we do in June?
- Residents sent in adorable pics for the Pet photo contest,
- We watched skilled dancers at a spirited luau party,
- We held our first “1st Friday” gathering,
- We watched from the stands at Coors Field as the Colorado Rockies took on the Atlanta Braves and
- We rallied to declutter our homes to participate in the community garage sale.

July:
Red, white and blue alert! The Independence Day Stars and Stripes celebration was successful once again and provided residents with a fun-filled day of excitement. A private tour at nearby Lamb Spring Archaeological Preserve, several nights of live music in the Sterling Center and a night of roasting marshmallows under a starry sky at Camp Sterling were just a few of the many activities on the community’s summer event calendar.

August:
What better way to wrap up summer than with Movie Night at the Park? Neighbors set up blankets and chairs and took in The Goonies at Providence Park in front of a Rocky Mountain backdrop. Families enjoyed a back-to-school ice cream social to get a jumpstart on a promising new school year.

September:
Labor Day weekend brought a bittersweet close to the outdoor pool. Although the kids could no longer splash and play, our four-legged friends sure had a blast at the puppy plunge! Community members enjoyed their first on-site walk/run race at the CAB-sponsored Miles 4 Madison 5k/1k Fun Run, benefiting families with children with special needs.

October:
The cattle drive watch party was an exciting way to begin the month, as Texas longhorn were moved to their winter pastures. The long-awaited Waterton Road extension was opened for travel mid-month, and a beloved Fall Festival and Halloween/autumn decorating contest capped off a full event calendar.

November:
This was a month of giving back at Sterling Ranch with a community food drive and an angel tree. For a joyful time, families enjoyed Dueling Pianos and a fresh tree farm.

December:
Jingle bells, hot cocoa, a horse-drawn carriage and cheer were the hallmarks of the annual Ride of Lights event, where neighbors delighted in the sparkling lights and spectacular front-yard decor throughout the community’s unique villages. Residents picked up perfect gifts for impossible-to-shop-for loved ones at a craft bazaar, and children postmarked their letters for Santa at the Overlook Clubhouse.
