Meet Brandon and Ashley Ambrose — Sterling Ranch techie extraordinaires
Brandon and Ashley Ambrose were the eighth couple to move to Sterling Ranch . . . ever! As they pioneer the use of innovative technology in their smart home, they are truly laying the foundation for what it means to live here.
“We wanted to live near work and near people who were in similar situations to us. We wanted to start a family. [We loved] the idea of Sterling Ranch: the way it was designed and laid out, the technology, the conservation. So much of what this community is about was exciting to us,” says Brandon.
Innovative technology supporting lifestyle
On January 27, 2020, the Ambroses welcomed a beautiful baby boy named Archer. They have been rocking parenthood amid all the recent life-altering events. Congrats, Brandon and Ashley!
With the governor’s stay-at-home order in place, Ashley started working from home after her maternity leave wrapped up a few weeks ago. Brandon has been working remotely part-time and going into the office as needed. They both work for Lockheed Martin Corporation, a global security and aerospace company located just a few short miles from Sterling Ranch.
With Brandon and Ashley currently working from home, a fast Internet connection has become essential, and the one-gig fiber connection has delivered beyond expectation. “The high-speed Internet in Sterling Ranch has been flawless for us. We’ve been streaming shows and movies, and working this whole time with no interruptions. In fact, the only limiting factor for us working from home is our company VPN.”
The Ambroses also have a smart baby monitor set up for when Archer moves into his crib. According to Brandon, “with the Eero mesh WiFi and high-speed Internet, we are confident that the monitor will always be connected and working so we can check his breathing overnight.”
STEWARD — all your gadgets connected and natural resources saved
STEWARD, a smart-home automation assistant that comes standard with every Sterling Ranch home, has been invaluable for the couple. Ashley loves that STEWARD displays electric and water usage in real time, so the couple can save money on utility bills and help save natural resources.
The Ambroses have also connected many other devices to STEWARD. Light switches, interior and exterior outlets, the garage door, the front door lock, and the security system (the home came with that too) are all synced up, creating a smooth automation system for the entire home. They are able to control all these devices through apps on their phones or the STEWARD tablet on the wall that came with their new home. This saves time and creates peace of mind for the Ambroses — nonnegotiables for new parents.

As the Sterling Ranch community anticipates an end to the stay-at-home order, Ashley and Brandon are excited to eventually get back out there and spend some much-needed time with their awesome neighbors. “A lot of people here have electric scooters and we all ride around the neighborhood together. [Also,] the Sterling Ranch CAB has planned some really fun events for us. It’s been nice being able to meet new neighbors. More and more people keep coming every week,” Ashley mentions.
For now, they enjoy taking the baby out and wandering around the neighborhood’s many community trails and parks — “It feels safe to walk around, as the streets flow intuitively. At night, the streetlights give really good coverage when you are walking by, so it feels comfortable to walk around . . . no matter the time.”
