National Good Neighbor Day has been celebrated by many around the US since the 1970s. President Carter proclaimed this day a holiday in hopes of raising public awareness that good neighbors can help build strong thriving communities.
At Sterling Ranch, we couldn’t agree more. So, naturally, we wanted to join in on the festivities and honor the incredible community that we are building.
Bringing People Together
Last Saturday, September 28th, we hosted a Brunch Potluck at the Sterling Center. Our friends at Atlas Coffee were there to serve up tasty coffee and tea, and Grist Brewing Company helped out with the Mimosa bar. All of the food was absolutely delicious (can we have another quiche, please?), and the coloring contest was a fan favorite among the kiddos.
As you walked into the Sterling Center, the warmth and family-like atmosphere were noticed by all — the homemade goodies, the local business support, the friendly conversations! It all came together nicely and we were happy to chat with Sterling Ranch residents about what makes this place so special to them.
Building Strong Ties
Melissa Thomsen and Kim Van Horn of Colorado Home Realty were kind enough to sponsor the mimosa bar and a coloring contest for the event. They are both Sterling Ranch residents and have especially loved being part of the neighborhood due to its commitment to bringing people together.
“Being residents of Sterling Ranch is an honor… We love building relationships and connecting with people, so sponsoring the Good Neighbor Event is just a natural fit,” mentioned Melissa.
“…The community and family-based culture that is being built here is great and we (my husband and I) feel so fortunate to be apart of it,” added Kim.
Bonding Over Experiences
Debi Keller, another Sterling Ranch resident knew she was part of something special when she and her husband visited their home before it was built — “their dirt lot,” she called it. During the visit, Debi was thrilled to see her future neighbors visiting their own “dirt lot” next door. They became fast friends after bonding over their excitement for the future while getting a glimpse of what was to come!
Face-to-Face Connections
Connie Svihovec brought her entire family to the event; they were visiting from New Mexico and she felt that taking them to the celebration was a way to show them her neighborhood and what it’s all about.
“In an age of technology where people are always on their screens, it’s important to be part of a community that gets together face to face,” she stated.
Family Away From Family
Melena Marquez remarked that being a good neighbor is all about becoming “family away from family” for one another. That is exactly what the Sterling Ranch mission is all about – bringing people together in a way that matters.
Thank you to all the residents that participated in the event to make it such an enjoyable morning! Learn more about how you can be part of the mission and keep the Good Neighbor spirit alive.
