Finding joy and purpose in challenging times

We may be biased, but we believe Sterling Ranch residents are a special group of humans. They exemplify this fact time and time again, consistently rising to the occasion to help others, no matter the circumstance. Due to covid, this year has been especially difficult for so many people. We’ve been overjoyed to see our residents stepping up to help in creative and inspiring ways. During this season of thanks, we wanted to express our appreciation and gratitude to our residents and share some of the ways they’ve been making a difference within Sterling Ranch and surrounding communities. As a bonus, we’ve included some upcoming opportunities to give back. THANK YOU Sterling Ranch residents for your unfailing spirit of giving!

Sterling Ranch businesses and residents make a difference

Check out this sampling of some of the kindness and generosity we’ve witnessed around here since the early days of the coronavirus pandemic.

    • In April, Sterling Ranch resident Janeen McDonald collected monetary donations and used them to purchase meals for hospital workers at Swedish Medical Center.
    • Resident Jenny Huettl has been gathering donations on her doorstep for Impact Humanity — Denver’s first free clothing store serving the homeless community. She’s also doing a toy drive this holiday season. She’s hosted a number of donation drives over the years and we are thankful for her presence in our community.
    • This fall, our residents cleaned up trash around Titan Road — the main route into the Sterling Ranch community — and we were so thankful!
    • In mid-September, a number of Sterling Ranch residents formed a team through the Walk to End Alzheimer’s Association. The team proudly walked (at a safe social distance) to support a great cause.
    • On October 28, National First Responders Day, the Sterling Ranch Community Authority Board honored all local first responders by providing free lunch from one of our fabulous food trucks, Saucy Chops.
    • In early November, Lake Family Dental partnered with Sterling Ranch resident/realtor Melissa Thomsen to host a coat drive benefiting the Denver Rescue Mission.

    Give back this holiday season

Do you want to get involved and give back this holiday season? It’s easy and oh-so rewarding. Here are some ways you can make this time of year meaningful and joyful for yourself and others.

    The Giving Tree

From November 16 to December 4, residents can participate in a gift drive benefiting families of the Salvation Army. Go to the Overlook Clubhouse, pick up a gift tag for a child in need and return an unwrapped present with gift tag attached by December 4. We are also accepting wrapping paper donations.

    Vitalant blood drive

On December 2, we are hosting a blood drive in partnership with Vitalant, a local blood donation center. What a meaningful opportunity to help save a life! For registration information, please visit the Sterling Ranch Community Authority Board.

    Cards for troops

Support our troops this season! Through this incredible initiative we will send cards to U.S. soldiers all over the world. Drop off your homemade holiday cards at the Sterling Center Information Desk by November 29 and we will mail them for you.

Let’s keep the spirit of giving alive

As you can see, the spirit of giving is high at Sterling Ranch and we are thrilled to have so many residents open their hearts and participate. If you would like to get involved or have ideas on how we can keep the spirit of giving alive year-round, please contact the Sterling Ranch Community Authority Board. Its members would love to be of service.
