Roxborough State Park is known for its dramatic red rock formations, breathtaking views, and peaceful vibes. Because the park’s primary goal is to preserve nature, it is free of pets, cyclists, equestrians, campers, and rock climbers. Explore the Roxborough trail system
Roxborough trails offer a chance to either take a leisurely stroll or huff and puff up to a mountain peak. . . your choice! There are seven major and three minor trails to explore. Here are a couple of our favorites:
Fountain Valley
This is an easy 2.3 mile loop that gently climbs up to present beautiful valley views at the top. You’re to see some wildflowers and wildlife along the way.
Carpenter Peak
This is a strenuous 6.4 mile out and back trail climbing over 1,000 feet. You’ll encounter beautiful red rock formations, colorful wildflowers in the Spring and picturesque colors in the Fall. After completing this trail, one can climb all the way up to the top of the mountain by adding 50 extra feet and taking on the short and sweet Carpenter Peak Spur trail. The views will be worth it.
Every day is a great day to unwind in nature. So go ahead — grab your Colorado State Parks pass*, head down to Roxborough State Park, and experience for yourself why the park is a genuine Colorado favorite.
