With Atlas Coffee in the neighborhood, it’s easier than ever for Sterling Ranch residents to get a cup of their favorite brew. For anyone feeling adventurous, it’s also the perfect place to strike out and try something new. If you’re not sure what some of the names on the Atlas menu refer to, we’ve put together a quick cheat sheet so you can act like you know what you’re talking about . . . even if it’s your first venture outside of latte or cappuccino territory.

But first, let’s start with the beans, because they’re the foundation for any quality coffee beverage. Atlas Coffee partners with Corvus Coffee, a premier, small-batch roaster based in Colorado. Corvus takes exceptional care in the way it roasts its coffee beans, using a fully manual, cast-iron Geisen roaster. And small batches mean their beans are always fresh and flavorful. Just as importantly, Corvus works directly with farmers to source their coffee beans, so that farmers can provide themselves with better livelihoods.

Now that you know you can trust that your coffee is responsibly sourced and expertly roasted, on to the definitions. These are some of the popular hot coffee drinks on the Atlas menu that you may not have tried.

Cafe Au Lait – Similar to a latte—but not to be confused with one—the cafe au lait has its own distinct profile. It’s made with equal parts brewed coffee and steamed milk. As you probably guessed, the origin of the drink comes from France (the name translates to, “coffee with milk”).

Red Eye – Not for the caffeine-sensitive, the Red Eye combines espresso with regular drip coffee. Guaranteed to give you a kick start in the morning!

Bulletproof – If you’re following the Keto diet, you’re probably already familiar with this slightly zany concoction. Bulletproof coffee combines coffee, butter, and oil to give you a substantial amount of fat in the morning. Proponents say it satiates hunger and improves mental clarity.

Pour Over – The secret’s in the name: pour hot water over and through the coffee grounds and the coffee will collect through the filter in the cup or serving container. While traditional drip coffee makers do much the same thing, the pour over method is a more controlled and exacting way to produce a delicious cup of jo.

French Press – This method produces a creamy-bodied coffee. Grounds and hot water are combined in a press, allowed to brew for a few minutes, and then the grounds are extracted by pressing down on the top of the container. Delicious!

Con Panna – If you like espresso, you’ll love it served this way — topped with a dollop of whipped cream! The cream cuts through the intensity of the espresso without interfering with the flavor.

Cortado – A mixture of espresso and steamed milk, the cortado is similar to a latte but differs in that the milk is not textured (frothy or foamed).

If coffee wasn’t on your mind before you started reading this post, we’re guessing your ready for a cup now! Go ahead, try something new and savor the habit-forming, caffeinated goodness that is coffee.
